PD6662 Compliance
There remains confusion surrounding the implementation of the standards and the requirements and availability of grade 3 product. We are sure this will become much clearer over the next few months, during which time, like many manufacturers, we are still awaiting final interpretation of grade 3 compliant specifications to have all products available. If in this period you should have a requirement for a product to a grade not mentioned here, please do not hesitate to contact our technical help line for assistance, as its picture is constantly changing. Meanwhile, here are the categories for our standard range of products.
The Warning Devices listed below meet the requirements set out in the PD6662: 2004 and the EN50131 series of standards.

+ If End of line resistors are fitted thenthis product can be classed as Grade 3. N.B. The SC550/WH and SC550/WH/MD do not have end-of-line resistors fitted. * This star indicates that following the product code you need to add one of the following letters which shows which EOL configuration you require:
A=Honeywell. B=Scantronic/Menvier/Texecom/Pyronix (PCX). C=Guardall. D=DSC. E=Gard Tech. F=Bosch. G=Castle. H=Europlex. Pyronix (Matrix).
Current opinion for grade 3 contacts is that you will be required to install a product that is tampred or sealed. Currently it is an optional requirement to have a contact that will detect another magnetic field other than that of the contacts existing magnet. This will be adopted under EN 50131 when the standard is finally published next year. All of the grade 3 products will be special order and will be available from November 2005.
The products are suitable for use in systems designed to comply with PD6662: 2004 at the relevant security grades and environmental classes.
Listed below are the key requirements, which are critical to selecting the correct sounder or contact to meet the relevant product grading.

C.3.5 Operation. The external audible alarm should sound in the event of an electrical change in its connection(s) to the control equipment or if its tamper detection operates. In these circumstances a tamper signal or message should be generated at the control equipment. Otherwise the external audible alarm should operate only when either an alarm condition is received by it, or it is tested.
